Three months or twelve. Their totals, for the right period.

Find an employee’s gross pay and other totals for a precise period from Claude or ChatGPT, with Silae access managed in Persyst.

Published on October 28, 2026

In short

  • Your assistant can read an employee’s Silae totals over a period of one to twelve inclusive months.
  • Specify the start and end months; returned totals cover all the employee’s employments in that payroll file.
  • These amounts prepare your analysis. They do not, on their own, determine a reference salary or compensation payment.

For employee 0042 at Company A, give gross pay totals for July to September 2026, then October 2025 to September 2026. Keep the two periods separate.

July to September 2026: €8,900 gross pay. October 2025 to September 2026: €35,100. These totals cover all the employee’s employments in this payroll file. The three-month period is included in the twelve-month period: the amounts must not be added together. I cannot infer a reference salary without knowing which rules to apply.

Start with the boundaries

“The last twelve months” can mean different periods if the current month is unfinished. Give the start and end months instead: October 2025 to September 2026, for example.

With Persyst’s Silae connector, Claude or ChatGPT finds the employee and reads their totals for the requested periods without changing payroll.

Two periods, two amounts

In this fictional example, employee 0042 has these totals:

Inclusive periodGross pay totalScope
July to September 2026€8,900All their employments at Company A
October 2025 to September 2026€35,100All their employments at Company A

The three months are included in the twelve: adding both lines would count part of payroll twice. These totals do not automatically form the basis of a compensation calculation.

What the assistant reads

  1. It identifies the authorized payroll file and employee with list_silae_dossiers and list_silae_records.
  2. It reads totals with read_silae_payroll, giving each period’s boundaries, from one to twelve inclusive months.
  3. It presents every amount with its period and scope: the employee, across all employments in that file.
  4. If a value is missing or the scope does not match your request, it flags this before comparing.

Access to totals is separate from reading payslip lines. The administrator grants it on the necessary payroll files (Silae setup).

Three requests to try

  • “Give employee 0042’s gross pay total from January to September 2026, with the period boundaries.”
  • “Show gross pay and taxable net pay separately for each of these two periods. Flag unavailable values.”
  • “Before interpreting these totals, confirm whether they cover multiple employments in this payroll file.”

Need to find the right file first? Find the employee across authorized payroll files. To understand a specific change, compare their payslips across two months.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to select a calendar year?

No. The start and end months can cover a rolling period, up to twelve inclusive months per read. Give exact boundaries to avoid ambiguity.

Does the total cover a single employment?

No. Totals are read for the employee across all their employments in the chosen payroll file. To analyze a specific employment, request the corresponding payslips with the required access.

Can I get amounts other than gross pay?

Depending on the data Silae returns, the read can also provide taxable net pay, net pay or hours worked. The assistant must flag an unavailable amount rather than replace it with zero.

Does the assistant calculate compensation from these totals?

This use case gathers payroll data. The payroll manager must check the period, included items and calculation rules before any decision.
