One employee to find. Several payroll files to search.

Search by name or employee number across authorized Silae payroll files from Claude or ChatGPT, including former employees when needed.

Published on October 28, 2026

In short

  • Your assistant can search for a name or employee number in each Silae payroll file you can access.
  • Explicitly ask to include former employees: the default search covers employees active in the period.
  • Matches stay separate by payroll file; a shared name does not prove they are the same person.

Search for the name Example in my Silae payroll files for October, including former employees. Give the payroll file and employee number for each match.

Across four files searched, there are two matches: Company A, employee number 0042, Employee Example; Company B, employee number 0017, Employee Example. No matches in the other two files. These results do not establish that they are the same person. I have not opened their payslips.

Example exchange, fictional data.

Which payroll file are they in?

A request arrives with a name but no payroll file. Instead of opening each file manually, ask Claude or ChatGPT to search them through Persyst’s Silae connector.

Specify the name or employee number, the month and whether to include former employees. The answer should keep the payroll file and employee number alongside each name.

Two matches do not make one person

In this fictional example, searching for “Example” returns:

Payroll fileEmployee numberDisplayed name
Company A0042Employee Example
Company B0017Employee Example

The assistant presents both matches. It does not merge them or pick a payslip at random: you confirm the payroll file and employee before continuing.

What the assistant searches

  1. It gets the accessible payroll files with list_silae_dossiers.
  2. It searches for the name or employee number in each file with list_silae_records, for the requested month and including former employees when needed.
  3. It follows result pages, then groups the matches without losing their source payroll file.
  4. It distinguishes files with no matches from files it could not read.

This uses a name or employee number filter, not full-text search inside payslips. It grants no additional access to payroll files (Silae access setup).

Three requests to try

  • “Search for employee number 0042 in my authorized payroll files for October.”
  • “Repeat the search including former employees and list any files you could not read.”
  • “For the Company A match, find the employments before opening a payslip.”

Once the employee is identified, you can compare two payslips or read their totals over a period, if the corresponding reads are authorized.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the search cover every payroll file in the firm?

It can search the files granted to the member, with permission to list employees. Files outside their access are not searched. The assistant must specify the files consulted and flag denied reads.

Can I find an employee who has left the company?

Yes, if their file is accessible and Silae still returns them. Ask to include former employees; otherwise the list is filtered to those active in the requested month.

Can I search by employee number?

Yes. The filter covers the displayed name and employee number. Keep the payroll file alongside the result: an employee number is not unique across all companies.

Does finding an employee grant access to their payslips?

No. Listing employees and reading payslips are separate permissions, granted per payroll file in Persyst.
